The Kink Gap and Gap XL are designed for riders that are ready to take things to the next level with stronger and lighter components to make it easier to perform more advanced tricks. The Gap and Gap XL are the next model up from the Kink Launch and feature 4130 Chromoly tubing in the frame, fork and handlebars.
What are the differences between the Kink Gap and the Kink Gap XL?
There are two differences between the Kink Gap and the Gap XL. The Gap XL has a longer 21" long top tube whereas the regular Kink Gap has a 20.5" top tube. Also the handlebars on the Kink Gap XL are slightly taller at 9.25" rise as opposed to the Kink Gap that has 9" rise bars. Apart from this the componentry is identical between the two bikes.
What parts are on the Kink Gap and Gap XL BMX bikes?
The Kink Gap and Gap XL BMX bikes feature 4130 Chromoly tubing in the front triangle of the frame making it both lighter and stronger than an equivalent frame made from High Tensile Steel. The Kink Stryker forks Chromoly steerer tube and tapered fork legs and a which are connected with a Mission sealed integrated headset.
These 20" BMX bikes have many high end components including the Mission Engage fully sealed rear 9, tooth 14mm cassette hub giving you confidence this will keep you rolling maintenance free. This combined with the Mission Covert loose ball front hub are both laced onto Mission X7 rims with 36 spokes. These are running on Kink Sever 2.4" wide tyres with a knurled tread pattern designed for all different types of riding.
The Kink Ridge tubular BMX cranks are made from Chromoly and are 170mm long. These have a 19mm diameter, 8 splined spindle and sealed bottom bracket bearings ensuring your ride is maintenance free. Completing the drive chain is a Mission Breach 25 tooth sprocket and Kink Hemlock pedals.
Up top there's Kink Ace flangeless grips on Chromoly bars which are clamped to a Kink Bold HRD top load stem. The Mission Token brake lever connects to the Mission Cease V2 rear brake via a Mission L3 Linear cable to give you good stopping power.
The seat and post are upgraded from the Kink Curb and Launch models and features a Kink Plymouth/Bomber Stealth Pivotal seat and seat post. This is a premium seat that allows you to adjust the angle of the seat.

What else should know before buying a Kink Gap BMX?
These Kink BMX bikes include both front and rear brakes. The rear brake, cable and lever are already installed. The rear brake lever is installed on the left side of the handlebars as opposed to how it's shown in the photos. This bike will require some basic assembly prior to riding which will include putting the handlebars in the stem, fitting the front wheel, pedals and seat post. The minimum tools you will require are: 15 & 17mm spanner, 5mm and 6mm Allen keys.
