Buy a BMX on Cycle to Work scheme

At Backyard BMX we now offer Cycle to Work scheme through the Green Commute Inititative, a leading multi-award Cycle to Work scheme with no spending limits and no ownership fees.

Depending on your salary and tax bracket you can save between 28% and 47% on the cost of a new BMX bike, BMX parts and spares, and BMX accessories.

Can i buy a BMX on Cycle to Work Scheme?

Yes you can and we have a large range of BMX bikes available at Backyard along with a comprehensive amount of BMX parts,

Does it need to be a complete BMX bike?

No it doesn't, you could just get some accessories, or some BMX parts like a new frame, or forks.

Do i need to keep records of commuting or proof?

At present HMRC do not require mileage records or any logs to be kept.

What if you don't commute at the moment, or only commute on some days?

That's fine if you are planning to commute in the future. HMRC state that the majority of the use across the lifetime of the purchase must be for commuting.

Is there anything excluded?

Cycle computers and general clothing are excluded from Cycle to work, pretty much everything else we sell is allowed including complete BMX bikes, individual BMX parts, lights, tools, spares, locks etc.

I'm self employed, can i get a bike through Cycle to Work scheme from Backyard BMX?

Unfortunately the tax arranagement of the self employed are not covered by the Cycle to Work scheme at present. Depending on your personal circumstances you might be able to claim business use for a BMX bike so we recommend speaking to an accountant.

How do I purchase through Cycle to Work Scheme and Backyard BMX?

Firstly check with your employer to see if they are registered with Green Commute Initiative. Even if they are not registered an individual request can go ahead providing the employer agrees. Once you've checked that, then simply talk to us on the phone, on live chat, or drop us an email with what you would like. We can then provide a quote and order for your new BMX bike or parts to give to your employer. We require a 10% deposit to hold the items for you and guarantee them, but this will be refunded back to your original payment method once the employer pays.
