Profile Racing started back in 1968 by Jim Alley in Lemington, New Jersey, USA as a race car chassis shop. In 1971 they moved to St. Petersburg in Florida. In 1978 Jim's children, daughter Justine, and son Corey were introduced to BMX racing at the local track and before they new it the whole family were hooked. Due to Jim's knowledge and experience from years in the automotive industry he started to produce parts for bicycles. In 1979 Profile made their first 3 piece chromoly crank set with a 48 spline axle. A first of its kind, this became the standard design for BMX racing cranks.
Throughout the 19080's Profile Racing continued to grow and with investment in CNC (computer numerically controlled) machining centres and lathes they continued to deliver innovative products. Despite many brands off shoring manufacturing to places like Taiwan, Mexico, and China Profile stuck to their roots in the USA. Despite stiff competition from the overseas production they actually grew and added more space to their manufacturing warehouse in Florida continuing to make 100% American made BMX parts.
In the years 2001-02 they expanded further adding another 20,000 square feet to their manufacturing area and today they are the single largest manufacturer of high end BMX parts in the USA. They continue on with a large BMX race team.
